POWER FOR DAILY LIVING DEVOTIONAL - SATURDAY 18TH APRIL 2020 TOPIC: WHAT TYPE OF CAPTAIN ARE YOU?TEXT: NUMBERS 14:4

A
captain is a leader, team player and motivator.
Twelve spies drawn from the 12 tribes of Israel were sent to spy Canaan, so that they can bring good report that would motivate the children of Israel to take over the land. These 12 people were raised on behalf of the entire congregation in the wilderness to fulfil divine plan and purpose but they failed in their assignment except Joshua and Caleb. When the entire congregation would react to the negative report, they wept and desired to return to Egypt. Those 10 spies were captains with captive and backward mentality. Their evil report made the whole congregation to be stocked in the wilderness and even died there, except these two men.

Unlike their brethren, Joshua and Caleb were inspirational leaders. In Numbers 13:30, they tried to calm their brethren, “let us go up at once, and possess it, for we are well able to overcome it. ” They were leaders with progressive mentality. So, they inherited the Promise Land with the new generation. While Joshua was still mentality and physically strong to divide the land, Caleb was also strong enough to take over the mountain top inheritance. Direct people to glorious future, not the past.
